2006 Misfiring starting with 3rd gear around 5k RPM
#11
One of my other cars has coil on plug, and the boots stuck to the plug, and the tops
came off, but they're designed to. Once the head comes off the boot, you can shoot
compressed air into the hole in the boot to get them off. The long springs inside,
none of them stuck to the plugs. The correct plugs have a dished top, the spring sits
inside of the dish, they don't slide over the top of the plug, so they stick to it. The new
coil packs I got came with dialetric grease already on the boot where it slides on to the
plug. The new plugs I used do not have the dish in the top of then, so the spring just
pressure touches the tops, but still does not slide over the tops, so they should not
stick.
I know now all COPs are the same, but they should come apart with no effect on the
product putting the head back on to the boot...

Thanks. I'll have to take a look at how mine connect. Mine did not come with the dialetric grease already applied, I had to do that myself. I did recover the head of the COP and pushed it back into the COP but didn't want to use it again. Looks like I could have reused it and saved on getting the replacement.
