Default looking to get a mustang but have questions

i am looking at selling my chevy colorado and get a mustang. I would love 2to have a 13-14 mustang with the v8 but that is not in the budget.

my options are 13-14 v6 or an older v8 2007-10

i like the styling of the 13 but also the thought of a v8

my main concern is the spark plug issue with the 2005-2008 4.6. is this a reason not to look at one and go with the new 3.7 v6?

what would you all go for 13-14 v6 or 2007-10 gt?

if it makes a diffrence i would like to stay under $16K for the 13-14 and around or under $14.5k for the older gt and for mileage under 60k for the 13-14 and under 70K for the gt.

thanks for the help

The spark plug issue on the '05-'08 GTs is easily solved by swapping in a set of Champion 7989s for a mere ~$100. Just invest in a Lisle plug extractor to have on standby in case any of the old ones break upon removal.

The spark plug problem was also resolved by ford mid-year 2008+.

I would go for the '13-'14 3.7 V6, 300+HP, the V8 isn't much more for the '07-'10.
Little less weight than the V8, so the HP and TORQUE are put to good use.

Either one can be supercharged, tuned...

My 2010 is listed as the most reliable Mustang. Only year with that 3 valve engine 315HP 350+TQ
I'm averaging 22 mpg.

It's a big car too BTW, larger than it looks in photos. But it's fun to drive and the engine bay is really accessible.

Good idea to get a feel for one, go to CarMax and test drive some, they are no hassle and you can drive any car there without any haggling.

Good luck!

well when i am ready i will look at a 2009 or 2010 if any are in my range but i think i will avoid the years with the plug issues but i do like the look of the 13-14 better and the power from the v6 is close to the old v8. also any thing will feel fast coming from my Colorado that is 4000lbs making 220 hp at the crank from its i5

I owned an 08 for four years, NA and then supercharged with a Vortech V3 High Output kit@10 psi. I now own an 06 GT also an automatic. I have ZERO complaints and I plan on swapping out the spark plugs with the special tool in hand this winter when it will be parked anyways.

Even just stock, tooling around town it feels pretty quick and torquey. I really like the body lines and style the most out of the newer gen Mustang GT's. It's retro without imitating too much and new enough to still look slick.

With the Supercharger and 4.10's, 93 octane tune it felt VERY FAST but in today's world where everyone is already making 450-500whp it's pretty standard lol

I just changed the original plugs on my 2006 GT, none of the 8 broke when removing. Took a little muscle to get them unseated but everything went smoothly. Replaced with the Champions.
