Question Gas Mileage

I purchased this 2008 Mustang last year with a 3:55 rear and five speed manual transmission. The car runs fine, just disappointed in mileage, 18mpg is the best I ever get, and I drive it very conservatively. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

Thanks for reply, don't Bama Chips affect mileage over stock?

I've a 2010 with the 4.6 3 valver, I don't know my rear gear ratio, but I get about 21-22 but I drive all highway miles to get to work.

V8 combined MPG is 18, but healthy on the highway, about 23 MPG. If you are not
seeing 23 MPG, ever, it may be time for some plugs, intake cleaning, and coil packs.

Mine went up on my V6 when I replaced the coil pack, cleaned the intake, and tuned it.
I am actually getting better MPG with the 91 octane tune than with the 87 performance
tune. Plugs are next, like, this weekend I hope...

My car's gas mileage can vary between 15-26mpg depending on the type of driving I do.

Do 55mph, downhill, wind at your back. 19-20mpgs all day!

My mileage is basically all back roads, so i can't complain about 17 give or take. On rare occasions will my car see highway speeds. I prefer the scenic routes and avoid the mundane highway drives.

And to answer your question about BAMA tunes, if it affected the mileage it was not something I took notice to.
