CAI

so im thinking about buying a CAI is it really worth it in the 2010 GT

bl817 11-06-2018 04:51 PM

on a 2010, no. invest in good tunes. actual dyno tunes are best, Lito (support@tudyno.com) or something like that, is second best, then an email tune from anyone other than Bama. good luck.

OE Intake is a CAI, follow the path...

Just get a K&N, AFE, or Spectre drop in, and tune...

When you open the hood, and see an air filter, it's pulling in engine compartlent
air. That's called a Short Ram. CAIs pull air from outside the engine compartment.
If you want a pretty intake, then pay $300+ for a Warm Air Intake...

Thanks for the help!!

In a word, no. At best you might gain 10hp when combined with a tune so I'd say just do a tune alone, or wait until you've performed other performance upgrades.

My 2010 is stock with a CAI. It comes with all 2010 GT's I believe.
The filter itself can be an issue... I'm not sure I'd want an oiled one...but they do make high flow dry filters.

All in all, a CAI just looks pretty... I just use a dry high-flow filter.

If you were to buy a CAI with a larger MAF, then you definitely need a tune, the
car runs like crap without it. There are specific intakes that require tuning, and
even those cause idling and other issues without a tune. That is why the tuners
actually have K&N, Steeda, and other specific intake tunes.

Mine is an OEM Air Box, with five 1.25" holes drilled in the front face of the lower
portion of the box. I am using the K&N FIPK tune, and it works good.

Any future plans for the car? If so what are they? Those questions and the answers are what will be the most important

So now you're pulling in warm air instead of cool air (Directed to 08"Mustang Dude)

Hey bl, I bought a tuner that came with Bama tunes for the V6 I had. While I didn't think it boosted HP too much, it sure made the throttle response very snappy. I was going to go the same route with my 06GT that I have now, but you make me think there is better out there.... could you fill me in? I want to tune the car but certainly want to make sure I get the best tuning.
