Default Backfire/popping on acceleration, 08 GT

So I just bought this car about 5 weeks ago, and this past week, this issue is becoming more common.
It seems strange but, when I'm accelerating hard out of 1st or 2nd, it backfires allot, allot of popping, between maybe about 3800-5500rpm, although it sounds badass, I know it ain't right. So if anyone has any knowledge of this or any advice and thought would be very much appreciated.
My current suspicion is an timing issue. But I really don't know anything about this stuff yet. And if it makes a difference it's 5speed

is this out the tailpipe or somewhere else in the exhaust?

Tailpipe sound then it's a timing or air/fuel mixture problem.

If it's somewhere else in the exhuast, you may have an exhaust leak. You can look for black soot around the exhaust joints when the engine is cold or look for cracks at weld joints in the cats and flanges.

Try cleaning the MAF sensor.
