If you think airbags are dangerous. Look as some old pictures of people half thru the windshield dead. That is reason for airbags. Only real dangers of airbags are to extremely short people who have to sit close to steering wheel. I hit a steering wheel at 15 mph when a lady hit me at about 20 on icy roads. No airbag. Bloody nose. Now imagine at 60 each and no airbag. I would rather have rash from airbag than be dead from my heart hitting my own ribcage. My opion and won't change it.

1st generation airbags are very, very dangerous actually. They have a habit of snapping your wrists, and the explosive that they use to inflate also causes some pretty harsh lung problems.
They're actually quite useless if you use your seat belt, and even the US safety laws acknowledged that. The laws in the early 90's that mandated airbags allowed you to not use an airbag if you had an automatic seat belt.
The whole inflation process takes about .05 seconds.
Now, let's say the distance between your body and the steering wheel is 2 feet. If you crash at 60mph, during that .05 seconds, you will have traveled about 4 feet forward. That means, you'll slam into the steering wheel, and probably have your face about halfway through the window before the airbag fully deploys.
You'd have to be going at 30 mph or so for the airbag to deploy in time for it to catch you before you hit the steering wheel. Any faster, and you'll just be slammed back with explosive force, after hitting the wheel.
And at that speed, seat belts are far better at restraining you, and have fewer unfortunate side effects. Notably just cracked ribs, verses shattered wrists, severe facial damage, and causing asthma.
So yeah... That airbag in the video (Which is exactly the same one in fox mustangs) is a really scary, dangerous thing.
Just wear a seat belt.

When I got into an accident I didn't even get hit by the airbag. The seats reclined and the seat belts tightened making the airbag shoot over me. But yea when those things shot out if definitely didn't look fun to get hit by one.

That video is interesting, but it says nothing about the safety of airbags when in their intended application. Next time I plan on riding in a refrigerator/freezer, I'll make sure to take the airbag out.
