how do you set the timing on a 88 2.3l

Default how do you set the timing on a 88 2.3l

how do you set the timing on my 88 2.3L. i kno on my 86 i loosen the distributor and turn is it the same on these? the timings way off, its around 19 20

You take the spout plug out, loosen the hold down bolt (17mm or 19mm) and rotate till you get 10* then re-connect the spout plug

Yes, you turn the distributor. You need to check the timing with the Spout pulled out. Set the timing with the Spout out and then re-install it when you have your timing where you want it.

It's right above the TFI plug in this picture


it should be behind the TFI plug in this picture also. It's just behind the plug on the distributer

thanks, so its just a matter of loosin the bolt turn it, tighten it, start it n check it again n repeat till u hit 10?

so i had sometime this morning to look at it, and i see no bolt thats around 17 19 the only bolt i see is a 6mm....am i looking at the wrong place i unpluged the wires and checked around it and cant find it.

The bolt is right between the block and the distributor
