Default dyno woes... ='<~~~~(

last saturday my friend let me put the svo on the rollers after hrs...

w/ 89 octane, 10*base@idle, all my listed mods and a few unlisted she spun 324lbs/ft and 242.7horses peak wheels! what?!

dont fret. both numbers are peaking at 4200rpm & 8psi(detonation-KS pulled timing out. after it started the run bandsaws down to horrid #s).

pulled vam and tweaked it for richer running, softened the spring rate. upped fuel pressure to 55psi w no assist. waiting to see how she runs now. afr map from pull was BAD. time to drop the 55s and run 72s... i may just get some 100+ lbs/hr injectors in prep for MS and the squeeze. thought id post up. maybe someone comments. anyways as is i have 3.5k into the whole car. including plates/tags. cheap power is fun when you know what to do.

everyone else needs to post up some dyno related experiences w their 2 3t

I have never spent the money on a dyno run. All of mine went into track admission fees, race gas, and some parts. Maybe after the Holset and meth.

Mods: holset, 3.5"downpipe to 3" trans dump w hooker aerochamber. t5 to 7.5"diff w 3.73s. stage 2 spec clutch. i burn it up during boost. yea!! way more fun. uhm. engine...

engine: la3+j3 chip. 55lbs injector, he351w holset, header, stock 84intakes ported. head ported w oversized valves. engle slider cam. essy adjustable pully & underdrive crank pully. vam been worked. savin the turbo w a forge bpv.

cant wait to put the timing back to 14* base put 110 in her and set it back to 24psi.

when i relocate alternator to pass fenderwell im gonna put on my underdrive pully. hope it frees up some power.

she is my junker. well-ten bucks for two qts of oil. then im gonna take her out n boost her. ill report back in a few days. got lots to get done.

My 79 dyno'ed at 439 rwhp a year and a half ago, SVO head, 390 C&S Blowthru Carb, GT35R turbo, 93 octane pump gas and 22psi, not bad that's also on a mustang dyno and it was running lean up front, doing much better now, I need to take it back down to the dyno again. That was also at 8000 rpm.

wow. you are brave. perhaps you need to step into say a 550-650cfm DRAW THRU carb. a jet goes out on blowthru and you will lean a hole or two out really fast. draw thru cools charge a bit and is atomized very well. probably see more response.

nice numbers. why so high? what cam? and who ported everything for you? sounds like they did one hellavu job.

I wouldn't want to go draw thru, you can't intercool and draw thru's are more restrictive than blowthru. You can blow more thru an orfice than you can suck thru one. What I meant by lean up front was when I started to put the foot to it it would go lean for a second, I got that curred it was the fact that I drilled out my LSAB's(idle bleeds). I'm using a 390 C&S aerosol billet, they probably flow in the area of 500 cfm, a 600 and above is really to big and hurts your booster signal, ths nascar 390 is really perfect. The numbers are high because I wanted to see what it will do, just playing, it can go much higher really easy. It's running alot better now that I've tuned it better, probably in the 450-480 hp area on a mustang dyno, on a dynojet it would probably be over 500 easy, and that's just 93 octane. Bo ported it and did a great job, I will use him from now on. The cam is from the 80's, it's a Esslinger circle track can, I have the spec's around here somewhere. Thanks for the compliment!
