Spark Plug Replacement
The stock plugs are Motorcraft AWSF 32C, copper. Should I replace with the same, or upgrade to Motorcraft SP 493, platinum? I purchased a 91 LX I4 and I'm about to change the plugs. I'd like to stick to Motorcraft . . .
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Most of the info I have read has pertained to the 2.3T and the consensus is that the platinum plugs do not work well with forced induction engines. As for the n/a 2.3 it might not matter. I do not think you will see any major gains by going with the platinum plugs so I would just stick with the copper. IDK maybe someone else might have some better insight on the matter.
Good decision on sticking with Motorcraft though, I've heard these engines are quite particular when it comes to plugs, wires etc. and Motorcraft tend to work the best.

Well.....that would be the logical answer to my suggestion. However, I am not even running Motorcraft plugs or wires right now. I am running Autolites and some store brand wires. I personally have not had any problems with these, but others say they can be temperamental. My next tune up I was going to change back to Motorcraft though.
