Trouble Shifting
Is this a common problem with factory parts in Foxbody models? I currently drive a '93 LX and I haven't had any work or maintenance performed on the transmission since I've purchased it off a private owner a year and a half ago. Sometimes, I have to shut the car off in order to shift into first after stopping. And other times I nearly force it into gear especially when downshifting.
I only ask this because I had a '92 5.0 once before and had similar problems with it. When I finally got our mechanic to look at it he cried. So much metal shavings inside the works. I had to replace my flywheel and a lot else. Now I have a 'new' car and I'm experiencing the same problem. I plan on upgrading and purchasing a new transmission (hopefully the T5), but I just don't know how much more 'life' I have on the current parts.
It worries me when I'm in traffic and every so often I gotta finagle engaging the gears. I swear I'm just making it worse.
