Default 81 Mustang Ghia 2.3 Worth?

Hey Guys,

I am doing this for my dad trying to figure out what his next steps are for his car. He has a 1981 Mustang Ghia with a 2.3 4 speed transmission with the moon roof. It is the famous orange-redish two tone with brown on top. It has only 50,xxx miles on it and the body overall is good with no rust except for some surface rust here and there in the engine bay.

What the heck do you do with these kind of cars? I can't imagine the rear end can take any abuse as well as the 4 speed transmission. It's to the point in which the motor feels weak to today's standards even going down the highway.

How much are these worth if you sell them?

Thanks for your help in advance.

Will these cars ever be worth something or considered a "collectors wanted car"?

Doubtful. There in the dead zone.If it hasn't happened in the last 36 years,it's not going to happen now.
Nice looking little car,but little more than a deluxe Pinto(and that's not a put down. We've owned and liked a lot of Pintos back in the day,and put very high miles on few of them.)

I agree with blue, maybe a little higher than 2k if it's clean and maintained. I'd even say 3-4k "IF" you find the right buyer/collector that's willing to take a little chance. Otherwise you dealing with Craigslist cheapskates like me lol. Good luck

Thanks guys for the reply.

I look at NADA.com and it's pulling around the same information which is roughly 2 grand but in a mint version you are looking at 3ish. It did hit it down like 10-15% for having the 4 cylinder motor lol. I was thinking it would hit it a little lower than that.
