Ok so I drive a mustang lx 1991 I was going down the road and my car acted like it was in neutral all of a sudden now all the gears act like that R D OD 1 2 etc. So i got it towed back home and it sat for a few days and now it will move but only in drive if i put it in OD it will just rev up and not really move but it kinda will. checked all fluids all are good. just need some advice on to sell it or fix it just put new tires on it like a week ago.

pull the trans and tear down to point of failure. at that age you will need a rebuild most likely

since when is it cheaper to buy an entire new car, than it is to replace a transmission with a used unit, or have it rebuilt?

I thought someone would know the direct issue as to why Overdrive is broken like that so I would know the exact price from my mechanic.

there isnt just one thing that can cause OD to become inop, this like all trans concerns, will require teardown and diagnosis to determine the cause of the concern.
