Default GT40 heads and emissions?

Just wondering how GT40 Explorer heads will affect my emissions when test time comes. Thanks.

The GT-40P heads were actually made to be emissions friendly. Ford replaced the 3-bar gt-40's w/ the P heads b/c the gov't became more stringent on emissions standards and Ford was afraid the Exploder wouldn't cut it.

All this is assuming they aren't ported or have the thermactor bumps removed on the exhaust side....if that's the case, I would still assume they'd pass, but I'm not sure.

make sure you look at them back of them, not all gt40 heads came with the hole in the back of them for the smog pump. if you dont look, like me, you'll have to get them drilled for it. that's only if your going to run a smog pump though.

Glad you chimed in, Quik and 13. What about aftermarket heads like Edelbrock the like? Same story, or are these heads ready to bolt on?

you would have to check to see if they have a SMOG number for them.

you can get P heads to be smog but you need to have them drilland tapped for it
