Default What would cause limp mode without throwing a code

Once the car goes into closed loop the car goes into "failure/limp mode" But there is no check engine light what could it be.

well obviously its a sensor thats only used in closed loop. You would have to throw a code to go into limp mode though.

Cuz the car will run fine then once up to normal temp it all of a sudden drops idle and half the power is there.

Thats not limp mode. It sounds more like a sensor is compensating for a problem or is the problem. I would still think a code would be thrown but your not always that lucky. What do you mean half the power? Does the car hesitate? I don't think its the tps like mentioned in other post because the problem would be noticed in open loop also. Hesitation once hitting closed loop is often a sign of bad o2 sensors. Unfortunatly with obd1 you can moniter o2 sensors from a scanner. You could test the o2's with a multimeter and see what the voltage fluctuates from. If it isn't fluctuating very fast this could a large part of your problem.

yeah the car hesitates, gets quieter, idles lower and becomes less powerful i could usually break 2nd gear lose when it goes into this slow state i cant even chirp second.
