i need to get into the 11s need help
i am looking for a set up on my 87 gt that will get me into the 11s i have stock speed density 5.0 but i have an edelbrock upper and lower intake with egr spacer and 70mm tb sitting in my garage does anyone knw of a good setup that will get me into the 11s spray or not i want to spray the car eventully ... i want to get a cam heads and gears just not sure what will go good with the edelbrock please anyone let me know

Well, the first thing you should do is look into converting you car from speed density to mass air. Heres a sticky that was in the tech articles.

Also, is it an automatic or manual?
You should look into a nice matching h/c/i setup (not completly necessary). You are going to need to get some gears (I would say 4.10's). And some suspension work to keep the power to the ground.
You can do it on a 302 w/ some work but if you have the money I would highly recommend a stroker kit (331 or 347).
How much money are you willing to spend? Is this your DD or weekend driver?

With all the basic 5.0 mods(underdrives and the stuff you have done) keep the timing back at 10 degrees or what ever the nitrous kit instructions suggest along with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a decent set of heads you will get that car in the mid 12's easy leaving it speed density because with the stock cam and good heads with the fuel pressure tricked out you can get the HP up no prob. Then with a minor amount of spray you will be in the 11's no prob. My speed density car runs low 13's with stock heads, cam, T body, intake, 1.7 roller rockers, 3.73 gears, BBK long tubes, BBK off road H pipe, underdrives, timing @ 14 base, silencer removed, original mufflers and tail pipes, and ET streets for getting it hooked. If I had played a little more with a mildly better cylinder head and the fuel pressure it would have run 12's and with a 100 hit of juice it would run 11's all day. Personally in my experience building engines for my clients, the AFR 185 cc heads are not too big for 5.0 engine. Buy these and get a fuel pressure reg and play with it until you get all the HP from it. You will be in the mid 12's with speed density with the stock cam. Then play with the spray! The reason I say 185's is eventually we all go bigger and badder so buy the heads once. You go smaller and you buy heads twice in my opinion.

id say if youre going to nos it you could just spray it 150 and have your bottom end rebuilt tougher to handle it good. with the parts you got and an ecam and ebay gt4o heads...lol...cheap... youll be doing aight. do a little igniton upgrading and slick er up youll be lightin it up!
