Default thinking about 87-92 GT

hey i was thinking about buying a 87-92 GT, i dont want a 93 because of the decrease in HP, i was just wondering what do these things run bone stock with a 5 speed, i am saying if i get one with like 80k miles, what would this run? also where do you think i could be if i got a catback, midpipe, 4.10s and a shifter?

thanks

Do you mean "what does it run" as in times or $$??

A badass driver can take a bone stock notch and go high 13's w/ good tires.

The 4.10s would help you the most, but if it's a 5-speed they will take a lot off your top speed and burn gas on the hwy. I've got 3.55's and love them, but a lot of people go w/ 3.73's since it's kind of a compromise.

the exhaust stuff will add some power, but it's more for the sound of it

Start by replacing your stock filter w/ a K&N and rip out your air silencer while you're in there. that will give you decent [but not huge] gains for just the cost of the filter. Gears are still the best bang for the buck, but you'll also want a larger MAF. The stock one is 55mm and chokes the motor down...

not really a decrease in HP

87-93 302 is rated at 225hp @ the flywheel

its only around 205hp-ish at the rear wheels

i drove a 91 GT and it is slow compared to my 93 LX

Cats make the car slower I hope ya know. They are only there for emission purposes.[:'(] FDor racing or going faster you want a catless h or x pipe

I'm confused, where did the "catted mid pipe" part come from?

cats rob power

h or x pipe increases flow which in turn equals more power

I know what the difference is, I just didn't see where Pietrasz4 mentioned it for his stang. Sorry, it's been a long day!
