Stock 5.0 Timing?

RE: Stock 5.0 Timing?
Stock is 10*. But you should check it because not all factory cars were set at 10*. Some were lower. You could bump your timing up to 12* or 13* and run 93 octane as long as your car isnt pinging" detonation".Adjust upward until pinging starts then back off some so your engine will operate safely!!! Stick with 93 gas if you want to run anything higher than 10*.

this is correct, but sometimes you can't hear the detonation...if you want to be safe go with 12*.
if you want to power tune it, it's best on a dyno or at the track.
at the track you bump by 1-2* and then when your MPH slows down...go back to the previous setting.
also, make sure the SPOUT is out for checking and also changing.
1. start car (make sure it's warm as well)
2. remove SPOUT
3. time it
4. plug in SPOUT
5. give her hell

RE: Stock 5.0 Timing?
Ok thanks. So ford says 10 but the car may not have been set at 10? I just want to get it back to stock timing because i do think its out of timing. Would I be safe just putting it at 10 or 11.

Suspect. Good pic, but can u send me a zoomed out pic so i can see where it is in the engine compartment?
Also, why does it need to be un-plugged?
