Default More Parts for the Scrap Pile?

Hey all, i'm considering loosing the fin and replacing the hatchback glass with Lexon on my '88 GT. The little piston things that help hold the hatchback up are shot and I can feel all the weight from lifting the hatchback up. It's a lot... So Im thinking about loosing some weight here... Throw the fin in the spare parts pile and use a little Lexon??? Any comments? I would like opinions on this before I make up my mind.... Thanks...

cervinis makes fiberglass hatches thats an idea, and in pa atleast you have to have dot approved glass and cant have lexan or plexi glass replacements

I thought about going with a pin on hatch but I think this is an area where I can save a few $$$. The mamacita isnt real happy about what I have done to the credit card... Anyway, you made a good point about the law... I'll have to look into that... I'm sure lexan for a windshield would be illegal but the hatch? I got mirrors....

Why not just replace the hatch struts?

The point was to loose weight.... The bad hatch struts just showed me how much weight they support...

Your not going to be able to tell a difference. I do believe, it just looks like regular glass. I'm also getting the fiberglass hatch from Cervinis and using a LEXAN window. The window is not that expensive but its the hatch that breaks your pockets.
