Default Newby w/a project car

Hey guys, i just got my fox body yesterday, a 1989 4 cylinder... and i know what your thinking.. "what an idiot- this is the 5.0 section" Well, i'm taking that POS 2.3 L engine out and popping in a 5.0 when i find one, a tranny, and a wire harness. My question to you is what are the good performance upgrades, exhaust, and reputable places to get parts? Please bear with me, i'm probably going to be asking a lot of questions once this thing gets underway. Thanks guys!

ahh dude the ole 4 to 8 cylinder is a great thing to do. taking a pitiful little pony and transfering it into a muscle car is a great thing to do for that little tang. its like saving a life. but if youre going to spend money on buiolding a motor look into a good crate engine. ready to go hp! AND AN A9L computer and good tremec or c4 tranny. and an 8.8 rear. then youll be off to a good start. not going to get into companoies because theres too many to talk about but summit and jegs jc whitney would be good places to start looking. edelbrock builds crate motors as do ford racing. many others.

I'd go with the basic Heads, Cam, Intake, exhaust. To start off though make sure you have a MAF sensor setup and if you have to buy a new setup go with 24# injectors and a MAF to match, adjustable fuel pressure regulator (screw type). That would be a great setup. After that if its a 5 spd i'd go with an 8.8 with 3.73:1 gears. 8.8 either way. good luck

i would dump a 351 stroker in there with a 8.8 rear end with some 4.10's and make it 5spd now that would be a fun car to drive
