Default Should I buy???

I've been looking for a 94 or 95 GT since i crashed my 88 for a few weeks now and went to look at one this afternoon. Its a great car minus the paint job it could possibly use (no big deal) and the fact that its got 170k miles... I will be building up this engine with heads intake cam, exhaust etc etc but for sure will not be using juice or forced induction, ever. So I'm left wondering if I should go for it... the engine checks out fine and the tranny is smooth. He asking for 5k which I would never pay but I can get him to 4, should I jump for it?

Im not worried about the price, the price is more than fair, but I wonder if its fair for that many miles.. How long until this block cracks right in half? Ya know?

it should be fine. when you are in putting new h/i/c/whatever when you get to it make sure you put in new gaskets. it should be ok for now

I don't think I like the idea of 174k miles on a performance car. H, I, and C will only pout more stress on the block, so Im weary. Its a good price though, 4k

If you are that worried about it, I suggest giving the engine a complete overhaul. You can have th eblock magnafluxed and all that to find any cracks, and replane any surfaces that might need it. Mkspeed26 is right though all it needs is new gaskets.

I got mine for 4800 with 151xxx on it, and it runs incredibly well, with perfect compression at 160k. For the money, at least if you can get him down to 4000, I'd say its a good deal, the engine and trans will last for another 2-3 years before major overhaul.
