there are plenty of 5.0 cars that run 12s with stock unported heads just go to a NMRA race or a Fun Ford race there are a few at the track I race at also and I have a friend that runs 12.80 with stock unported heads but he has been working on the combo for 3 years also. explore intake 1 5/8 headers roller rockers stock cam 65 mm T/B 3.73 rear gears 5 speed under drive pulleys. and some real good driving.

^^^^^are those long tube headers? i guess he said to leave the heads alone because he was thinking of the least amount of labor possible.

no short tubes. he even changes out the belt so the only thing that turns is the water pump. Car also has full drag suspension. H pipe no cats. Car is not gutted go read the rules when he has the $ he runs in the stock class in the NMRA and Fun Ford. But his money like most is tight so he runs alot of bracket racing. and helps his dad with his 8.50 67 stang.

x cam seems a lil big to me, but with a 4.10 and drag suspension i'd say 12's is def. possible.

Unported, you'd just be kinda stabbing yourself in the back with that X cam, flow even on ported e7's doesn't get any better past .500" of valve lift and the cam alone makes .542", not taking into account the 1.6 or 1.7 ratio rockers. I'm pretty sure you'd start running into clearance issues also... not positive though. Quik ran low 13's in his near-stock fox body if I remember. Throw some nitrous on there and have some fun. Buy a new tranny real quick
