Timing

RE: Timing
In response to "What's a timing light," picture a gun that shoots a strobelight beam in sync with the firing of the number one cylinder. The hardest part of the whole procedure will be driving to the store to get a timing light. The rest is easy--kind of cool to, if you've never seen it done before.

RE: Timing
On a fox body its in your wiring harness that runs into your distributor, its the yellow wire, i cut mine righ by the distributor and put connectors on it to make it easier to plug/unplug. When i got my mustang i was getting beat by my buddies stock 97 4.6, i couldn't believe it. Me and a buddy of mine checked the timing and i was at 0. When we adjusted it to 6 degrees it was like i supercharged it, we just kept on bumping it up and up and now i'm at 14* running 92 octane, everytime i advanced it, it would gain a very noticable difference. i would recomend 12-14 degrees as long as it doesn't ping, you'll be fine.

RE: Timing
make sure you pull the spout plug before you set the timing. (little gray plug on the dizzy harness)
btw- i advanced my timing to 15 degrees, put in 93 octane, and got my lower intake ported- those two things gained me .3 seconds in the 1/8th and 2mph in the 1/8th.
