Default What Should I do?

http://www.myspace.com/jackrichards this is a link to my myspace therein you will find a small filmstrip of pictures of my car, it's an 89 gt convertible it has a significant amount of paint and minor fiberglass damage needs a new top and a new tranny it has 133k on it already but I was told that there wasn't any rust, I am in afghanistan and I am mechanically retarted so mind you beside the very basic bolt on applications I will not be doing my own work so what Should I do with this car and please add an estimate of what you think your idea would cost at the shop. I have been toying with the idea of pulling the motor and opting for some crate speed but I plan on one day giving this car to my daughter I can do all the detailing as far as painting re carpeting and reupholsterin the interior but as far as getting this thing to run and run good I need some mechanical advice

I am in Afghanistan Because I am a UNITED STATES ARMY BOMB SQUAD team member......so yeah have to do it once or twice every so often damned deployments. Bought the car while I was over here my wife was awesome enough to help me out getting it delivered but I am at a loss of how to approach working on it.

Your car is about free expression. If your daughter is going to drive it someday, maybe its best to just add some bolts ons. Maybe cam swap, heads, intake, throttle body, maf, injectors, larger fuel pump, and adjustable regulator would be sufficient. With all that you are probably going to spend $2500 on parts, most are fairly easy to install for a beginner, you would probably have to have the cam and heads done for you though. It will probably give you about 350 HP depending on the mix of parts you put on.

T-5 tranny. My suggestion would be to upgrade to a Tremec if you plan on putting more than 400 horses on it at any point, but that's up to you. The T-5 will do fine for now. A Tremec is about $1100 - $1700 depending on where you get it and what style.

Well, I had my T-5 rebuilt by a buddy and he charged me $500 to do it. A brand new ford T-5 may be close to $1000, but that's a guesstimate. Check out Summit and Jegs, they have prices on crate motors brand new.
