if it was the ignition modual wouldnt the plugs be black? my plug is totally clean, as if im not getting any gas. im thinking that after it gets hot it leans out even more and that you explain the backfiring and horrible throttle response.

Anyone think of fuel vapor locking this happened to me yesterday as well and I think it is the fuel vapor locking next to the exhaust on the right side of the engine where it comes up between the alt and headers. I drove mine approximately 100 miles yesterday in the heat of the day and done the same thing. let it set for about 5 minutes for the fuel to flow again and was fine. Just a thought for you. I will be rerouting some fuel lines soon and getting them away from the headers and engine.

im thinking it is something else, because it has been doing this since i got the car in february. but when i put the exhaust on, it got much worse, so i am thinking it is either the O2 sensors or a lean mixture problem. those are the two most probable because symtoms got worse when the exhaust was installed. has anyone else had the check engine light come on only during acceleration? that might be from the o2 sensors.

Not if it just quits runnin. Like I said originally, when it quits, you need to determine if it has spark and fuel. Gotta start there.

i would take it to a mechanic and just get him so read your computer...they'll do it for cheep..and they you can eliminate anything screwing up with your computer, and it does sound like something is heating up...when my O2 sensors went bad they made my car run crappy pretty well after i started driving

pull the spark plugs and see what they look like. They can tell you a lot about the engine

put a code scanner on it, and see if it throws any codes
if that plug wasnt firing right it would be fouled not clean

my plugs are white. i know it is a fuel problem. im thinking it might be my fuel pump>>> gas is not cirulating fast enough, causing air bubbles in the line, therefore causing crap performance. and the lean condition. plus it got worse after i put my exhaust on, and that makes it even more probable because that would cause a leaner condition as well. does this seem right?
