31 vs. 28 spline axles
Is there a certain power range you cross over into in which you would be better off with 31 spline axles? I have a 5-lug 4 wheel disc conversion and I think it would be awfully expensive to swap. thanks.

RE: 31 vs. 28 spline axles
weight and traction more than hp.
generally 1.6 60ft's on stick cars and 1.5's on auto's at approx 3200lbs
so if you have a 3800lb car 1.7's stick and 1.6 auto. get the idea?

What rwhp you have? That IS the question, the only question... Then there are calculators to determine, or call Moser and they can tell you... I think they have calculators on their site even, if my memory serves me right... You need to know your RWHP....
Actually you need to know your rw torque...

RE: 31 vs. 28 spline axles
yea, i understand. even though my car will not be making enough power to my knowledge to break anything yet, i have plans for a twin turbo kit on my 347. eventually i think it will and the only reason i want to change it now is i am looking to buy a limited slip unit now and thought it may be better to do it all in one shot. thanks!
-by the way it has not been on the dyno or 2 the track yet but i'm making whatever you think on this setup
347cid, AFR205s 75cc exhaust, compcams XFI stroker cam (.608lift, 248intake duration, 258 exhaust) 1.6 rockers, fidanza alum flywheel, 24lbinj. 350rwhp? anybody want to venture a guess?

Dude, you only need 31 spline axles if you need them...

i watched my boss break 3 axles and 2 differentials in a STOCK Bullitt... so yea... 31 spline axles are a very good idea ALL THE TIME!
