It depends on how much work you do yourself.... Obviously, if you could build the engine yourself it would be cheaper than buying it built and paying someone to drop it in... which is VERY pricy...

if youre not doing the work yourself its cheaper and easier and less time consuming to buy a crate motor, and you know itll be right the first time. and youll know how much power itll have before you put it in. then all youll need is a good dyno tune and youll be rollin.

also i was wondering does anyone know of any good stroker kits i was looking at the 347 coast high kit that is made for boost is that a good kit? also any others?

go to summitracing.com , they have some really nice ones, i think eagle which is a good company. for like 1600 forged everything.

the kit i was lookin at comes with edelbrock vic jr heads and a probe industries cam think this is a good kit for 1600?

a stroker kit with vic jrs and forged internals for 1600??? dude that is a steal. but i have the vics on mine and just got the gt40 intake and E cam....big mistake, im presently preparing $$wise for a new topend. for those vic you need atleast a rpm II intake (im going with the victor efi intake) and a cam with about 540 to 550 lift. to get the full effect of those heads, they are powerful heads. do that and youll have your 400 hp or be really close. im expecting 375 to 400rwhp when i get my topend done this way. go 75mm tb and 80mm maf meter with that setup too. those vic jrs are beast!
