Is the California 88 the same as the 89 for all other states?

Yeah get an 89-93 you dont want to be stuck with having to convert to mass air like im having to do with my 87' GT,and yes the stang your talking about that looks like a body kit is the GT.

I thought MM&FF put out that article about how the fox bodys were "rated" at 225 in the brochure and then reduced to 205 after they began to change how they measured the horses

Yeah I knew I was right I am not for sure.....but I knew I read it here's part of the article a great read for fox body people!

In 1987, the Mustang GT received a new horsepower rating (advertised at 225). In 1993, however, Ford decided to rate the engine retroactively downward to 205 hp due to a change in its rating system and slight mechanical changes to the vehicles that were said to sap horsepower.

yes it is.....possibly better , the cam is still the '88 cam i think, not totally sure.

but mass air.

there is not that much difference in all those yeras, it's not like it changes 15 hp year to year...more like about 5 hp, over a year period and back and forth.

1-2 changes per year or 2 worth about 2-3 hp each.

also the standard for hp rating changed , and how accurate the dyno of the day was.

$5700 should buy a very nice stang, and don't be afraid to haggle the crap out of someone. i've seen guys sell their car for $1000 less than their " bottom line price" MONEY TALKS>>>CASH IN HAND WILL WALK AWAY EVERY TIME if they say no...say ok, i have 10 more to look at , i might call you later , they usually won't let you get out of the driveway

the notch in my sig i bought summer for $5800 , and he was asking $6300

also check furthur out w/ autotrader, i had to drive 175 miles almost to find this green one. (n of detroit drove to columbus ohio)

the speedo's wer changed mid-year in 1989 (85-140), and 89 1/2's and all the 90's will also have the "25 years" tag on the dash.

police cars had a 160 i think.

Thanks for thee info everyone! I just have a few more question, whats the difference from a GT and the Lx? Was the rear on either possi and even though the speed ends at 85 was that the top speed of the car? And im kinda confused, some were saying 140 hp and others said 225 hp, I plan on getting a late 80's so what kind of power did those put out 140 or 225? Thanks for you guys info its helping a lot.
