Major electrical problem
Hey, wondering is anyone can help me out. i have a 92gt, 100% stock 60,000 miles. Just recently al kinds of electrical things have been going haywire. My headlights work when they want to, my tach is stuck a 4,000 but goes down when the car is off. Gauge lights dont work. Inside and outside marker lights dont work now (on either side of headlight) and the beep that used to be there if i left my lights on is gone now. Is this another common prob with the stang? any help will be greatly appriciated. Also if im going ot be tearing the dash apart to find the prob i would like to put some aftermarkey gauges in. Any suggestions on a good brand.
Thanks

RE: Major electrical problem
Go with Autometer Sport or Pro comp gauges. Go with mechanical guages also. Less wiring to deal with, i wired my buddies 87 with a Oil and Water temp gauge yesterday and there was alot more wiring to do than i did with my mechanicals, and they work the same. But definatly go with autometer sport or pro comps'.

RE: Major electrical problem
You have a major short-to-ground problem. I am not sure with that car but my buddy had an Eclipse with the same problem, all of those components are on the same circuit. My suggestion would be find a schematic for that particular circuit and find which components are on it, find their locations and you should be able to trace the wires between each other. My guess would be the wire is worn somewhere and is shorting to ground, but it is only happening in certain conditions (i.e. the way you drive knocks the wire into something that is grounding it).
