Default Air filter question

I just picked up my 92 yesterday and i was just lookin around under the hood. It still has the stock airbox on it and i took out the air filter and it looks like a k&n but it was the dirtiest filter i have ever seen. It was solid black. Anyway, i want to get rid of that big bulky air box so what should i do? What has everyone else done? I could just buy CAI but i dont know if thats the easiest route or what.
thanks

just get you a short ram intake. Done waste money on a fenderwall intake. Besides, a CAI isn't going to add very much anyways, if anything really. But later on down the road when you do start adding mods, it will pay off a little more.

I had a BBK Fenderwell w/ a BBK filter. I liked it. Like everyone else says, you wont feel a difference in power (you might ad 2hp) but it cleans up the bay a little bit and it sounds good Those are really the only advantages on having a CAI.

Just clean your filter and look inside your fenderwell to make sure the air silencer has been removed.
