You could weld the spider gears up but i wouldnt.Do as he said and get yourself a locker.

We weld up the spider gears on the stock cars since they rarely come out of second gear around the dirt track. But i would not do that on a street car.

one why you want to upgrade from a tractionloc[limitedslip] to a posi. both do the same but the posi is little stronger. running spools and lockers on the street suck. if your tractionloc is peg legging it. you can get a rebuild kit for it. to replace the clutches in it. to make it plant 2 tires on the straightaways.

Well the reason I want to ugrade it to a posi is that I am going to build a 65 cobra Kit and I will be using this mustang as the donor car and wanted to have a posi in it

i agree w/ohsoquik, what's the point? have you ever driven posi on the street? no fun...keep the limited slip.

Are you saying its no fun because it gets full traction and you cant spin them easy or what ?

I also Have a 55 Chevy I have a posi in that .I drive that on the street all the time and have no problems with it The only time I notice it is when I am pulling out of stop streets or parking lots making a left or a right and I get a little hop or chirpping from the tires skipping on the roadway
