what is wrong with my set up??
hello, i just bought this car with this set up car runs pretty good considering it still has the stock exhaust on it, it does have mac shorty headers but still has pipes with converters. the car runs good but i think it should be running a whole lot better. i am planning the h or x pipe change here directly. does any one have any ideas on how to unleash the power of this set up?? the short block is a stock 92 302 it does have a 155liter/ hour fuel pump with stock non adjustable regulator. is this regulator worth changing?? will the h or x pipe make alot of differance?? and the computer has never been touched that i know of . the car pulls really good in first and second up to about 4500rpm but acts as it wants to pull alot more but cant. is the computer shutting down much of my performance?? should this set up run really strong or just ok??

Go under drive pulleys, I like the BBK unequal legth shorties and remove the air silencer if it is still there. Set timing to 13 to 14 degrees base timing and a fenderwell cold air intake would be a good choice too. Sorry mis read the Mac thing, thought you did not have them yet. They are the same as BBK. I like the heavier flanges on the BBK is all. You could go with a 2 cat or no cat X pipe and that would help too.

Well your car probably needs a tune up. I just did the ignition and it runs awesome, mine also stumbled at about 4000 rpm and up. Get yourself a MSD blaster coil, some Taylor wires (I say taylor cause they give you more then enough length as the MSD did not) and some platinum sparkplugs, also get the MSD cap and rotor kit. Get a new fuel filter. Now for mods you should get a CAI, 65mm throttle body, 3.73 gears, under drive pullies and the full exhaust, X-pipe (with or with out cats deoends on emissions) and some kind of catback exhaust. That should liven your car up A LOT. Do the ignition all at once and the mods separate, but the gears should be the first on the list when you start modding. Also the stock fuel pressure regulator is a waste until you get heavy mods and need to tune your car.
Edit: Yeah the timing is a good idea dont go higher then 14 unless you can get 93 octane. Also when you do the 65mm throttle body you may also want to get a 73mm MAF

He's running the E cam...
It shouldn't be the computer...I think the PCM rev limiter is at 6K. Try a tune after you do a tune up and maintenance.....YOu may be leaning out at the higher rpms....
