Default speedometer w/gear change

I recently had 3.73s put in my 94 cobra. I also changed the speedo gear to adjust my speedometer, but it still seems off. Someone told me it will still be about 5% off. Is this true? Is there any way to correct it? The speedo gear was bought through Ford Motorsports so I'm assuming it's the correct gear. The speedo still seems about 5 mph or so off. Any suggestions?

you can calculate your speed at a given rpm and wheel size and then check to see how close it is.....

How do I do that? I always heard 3.73s ran at about 2500 rpm @ 80mph. My speedo reads 85-86 mph @ 2500 rpm. I guess I'll have to pace someone next to me. I also heard having the car dynotuned will eliminate the problem. Is this true? I still want to get AFR heads and a different cam so I want to hold off on the dynotune.....

on a stick car there is 2 gears that need replaced. an auto has one gear to replace. the stick has a driven and drive gear. the auto has a driven gear. for your speedo to be on you need the correct tire size also. the speedo gears are calculated for the overall size of your wheels along with your rear gears and tranny gears
