Default Anyone know what this is?

Hi, when I take off from a stop and start to let out the clutch it makes a bad clunking like it's gonna kick the driveshaft . I checked u-joints and checked for slop in the rearend and then had an auburn posi put in it. Anyone know what this noise and shake could be? I put a aluminum drive shaft in it if that helps on the idea.

sounds like your ring/pinion teeth are wore out. jac k the rear up and shake the wheels back in forth while its in gear and see if you hear it in the rear

Not trying to hijack your thread here man, but in response, my ring and pinion are brand new the guy said after he sold me the car. He installed the 3.73's recently. And also Its not all of the time that it does it.

yup. does you car vibrate any at all in the drivetrain? get it up to around 55 and put it in neutral. feel the shifter while its drifting and see if you can feel a vibration in it. thats a good sign that theyre bad.
