5 speed to auto conversion
Hi guys/gals. I have a 85 lx 5.0 coupe that is a 5 speed. I know this sounds sacraligous, but I would like to convert to a automatic. I am getting a little older (not old, just older, 56 (lol). And my knees are getting arthritis. Sometimes it's pretty bad and I have a hard time shifting. What I would like to know is how hard it would be to convert to an automatic. Either a c-4 or an aod. I already have another 85 holley with the ford kickdown lever that came off my 85 F-150. I would like to go with an aod, but am concerned about computer issues and lock up converter. Is it doable? I have access to lot of parts (thanks to Ecology and Pick-a-part) so that is no concern. Also what about driveshaft length? When I am done I will be selling the 5 speed. It's not an 85 t-5, but a 92 gt t-5. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

RE: 5 speed to auto conversion
shouldnt be that hard, taking the pedals out will prolly be the hardest but udont have to take them out just push the clucth pedal in and zip tie it back, hey u never know u might want it back to a 5speed, and yes u will need a new drive shaft and a new tranny mount, i just converted mine to 5 speed, u will need to change the speedo gear to make your speedo right too, hmmmmm what else i think that should be about it other then the little things, hope this helps
