For a few dollars more you can get a tremec. The Ford Racing trans aren't worth the money they ask.

Are you talking about the Z spec tranny? I would go w/ a Tremec also for that kind of cashola.

Check around and see if any shops around you will put the G-force kit in your T5... A guy here in Dallas does it for 1300. It's better than a Tremec....

I think it is a great tranny. Sure it is not much less than a tremec tranny but there are advantages to the Z tranny. It has the nicer 2.95 gears that tighten the gear spread making it quicker acceleration wise over the oringinal 3.36 T5. And the Tremec is fatter. I beleive 40 lbs over all and with 16 pounds more just in rotaional weight the tremec was proven to be 1.5 to 2 tenths slower acceleration wise over the 2.95 Z T5. With a good clutch, I am told the center force hits too hard initially causing grief to the T5 and a quality shifter the Z T5 will run low 11's with slicks and live a long time if you lift and shift. They are all great trannys, you just need to talk with a good tranny shop to find out what is best suited for you and what performance and such you wish to get out of your car. The tremec also need a bell housing and new clutch too because the disc is splined differently that the stock T5.

T5s are weak. Sure you can run low 11s with a T5.... in a mid 10 sec car driving it like a girl. If you are seeing better ETs with a T5 compared to a Tremec based off rotational weight, you're too damn slow and need to concentrate on other things.
