tuneup help
Hi everyone,
I changed my oil and filter last weekend, and I'm planning to change out my spark plugs and fuel filter this weekend. So is there anything that difficult about doing either one? How long it take to do? And do I need to replace the wires, too? they seen to be in good shape already. thanks for your help.

RE: tuneup help
yea change the wires rotor and cap and all that when you do a tuneup, fuel filter is easy to change get a WIX fuel filter, just make sure you put it on right. when i got the car and changed mine, whoever did the last fuel filter put it on backwards. lol

RE: tuneup help
Upgrading the ignition is a waste of money on a mostly stock car. Until you get into high compression stuff, the stock ignition is more than enough. MSD wouldn't do anything over the stock ignition. Save your money and do other mods to the car before playing with the ignition, you're just going to be dissapointed. Hell instead of buying new ignition stuff, you could get a new Plenum and intake manifold, or a new MAF and Throttle body and see some real gains.
All MSD does, is.. well.. its name "Multiple Spark Discharge" which means if it doesn't fire the first time, it will keep trying up to I believe it's 16 or something times now before it gives up, and well, you don't have that problem. The only time it won't fire in a stock engine is if your plugs aren't gapped properly. The higher the compression, the harder it is for the spark to jump a gap. Only when you start playing with the engine (heads, supercharger, stroker) will the pressure start to become too great for that spark to jump.
Platinum plugs are another thing or those ones with 3 or 4 electrodes, they're all junk. Especially the ones with multiple electrodes, the spark will only jump to one of them so why have more than one? Platinum plugs just last a little longer. I go to a perfomance shop every now and then, and they don't have one platinum or multiple electrode plug to be found, all he sells is Accel, which is what I run.
All in all, spend your money on something else.
