Default gears 4.10

so i have a 1990 GT and i was wondering is the upgrade to 4.10's really all that great? And if you have installed them before can you tell me the do's and dont's? thanks for the comments

Dont do it yourself unless your familiar with the rearend internals and how to set up a dial indicator guage

i have 4.10s on my 5spd 5.0 89, my friend has them in his 90 5 spd supercharged 5.0 and my other buddy has them in his 04 gt supercharged and we all love them , just like the other guy said 3.73s are usually what u would want but really its a matter of opinion everyone here will have a different opinion about them but its a big difference with the 4.10s and if u do any gears dont forget your speedo gear! lol

If its an auto I would go with 4.10's without a doubt but if its a manual its a personal preference... I would still go with 4.10's but some people prefer 3.73's... some even 3.55's. Also, like everyone said. Its a diffifult install and there are lots of tools that you will need that you most likely will not have. Its a job best left to the professionals. 95% of people on here will not install their own gears... thats a fact.

yeah 88bluegt is right i installed mine, im a professional mechanic, and my shop just happens to have the tools to do it, its a pain in the *** cause if its not done right you will get noise and premature failure
