depends if you get the good ones or bad ones, lil info for you, good ball joint and new a-arm bushings, took old ball joint out, put new one in, took old bushings out, put new ones in. total cost bushings+ball joint+install and removal= 150 on 1994 ford aerostar. so front end stuff is not cheep but its not that expensive. that is taking the a-arm off at home and putting it back on at home.

i think i will replace all of that when i put my springs in. they will be here in about a week. so i think ill make a trip to advanced auto tomorrow. that way i can take care of it all at one time. im going to inspect itgood tomorrow though to see if i can pinpoint the problem.

Sounds like ball joints. Ball joints cost about $20 if I remember correctly. Jack the car up under the control arm, not the frame, so the wheel is about 2-3 inches off the groud, and use a cro-bar or a long pipe (like a jack handle, which is what I use) and place it under the tire and feel if it pops up and down, if it does, it's ball joints, if it's smooth all the way, not the problem. While it's in the air wiggle it back and forth to test the tie-rods. Also could be struts, see if there's any visible oil on them, if there is, they need to be replaced. Front end stuff is dirt cheap, did tie rods (inner and outer), ball joints, struts and control arm bushings in my car for under about $170 CAD.
