i know it is a good idea to get it professionally done, but some "professionals" arent any smarter than you or i. i think ive had more things go wrong at dealerships or service shops than i have in my own garage!

Well, thats why you need to go to a mechanic who knows what the hell he is doing and he has experience installing gears. I understand what your saying though, I also have had worse experience with shops than in my own garage also. Thats why the only time I go somewhere to get something done would be to install gears and weld something... adn thats only because I dont have a welder or I would do that myself also

yeah lotta true statements in this tread. I had my gears done by one of the best techs at my dealership and they need to be fixed b/c they're not tight. pisses me off. Also i think we do better work in our garages b/c we arent getting paid by the job )

Yea, and its OUR cars also. Most people dont really take the extra time/effort to make sure that somthing is perfect because they dont have to drive it. Not all are like that but there few left that arent.
