OK I PULLED ALL MY CODES WHAT ARE THEY?
before anybody starts in on me....i lost my manual again!..
well here they are.....34....81...82....84....85..

RE: OK I PULLED ALL MY CODES WHAT ARE THEY?
i think it's tune time...new cam/built up afr 185's..
i have to leave out above 2800k or it misses bad...? hard to explain...has that da da da tatatta feel.
plus it's being a major gas hog,and i'm still using the same timing as before 34*at 3k.
got any suggestions?

Regarding code 34(EGR Position Sensor above closed limit), do you have the connector shorted out?....if you do, that condition will screw up A/F and timing control. Since you don't have an EGR valve anymore, the best way to "fool" the computer is to either buy a EGR Resistor Pack Connector (it also comes with the resistors to take care of codes 81, 82 and 84), or make your own with resistors you can buy at your nearest Radio Shack or electronic components store. You can make your own following the diagram below and connecting it to the EVP connector as shown:
....the only code you'll get registered will be code 33(EGR Valve not opening), but the impact to A/F and timing control will be minimal....BTW, make sure you're timing is set between 12°-14°BTDC SPOUT connector off, don't know how you're getting that 34° figure.
And yes, it's time for a tuned chip...the problem you're having under 2800rpms is a hesitation, miss, stumble under partial load...the cam contributes, but it shouldn't be that bad....Hope this helps.

it's not that bad just on first start ups...my timing is 18* intial 34* total.
how the hell do you hook it up? solder?...do i cut the plug?...any resistor?..
yeah yeah you told me so...thanks though..

After you make your resistors triangle, you can either solder it, or splice it to the corresponding wires on the back of the connector. If you're seriously thinking on a tuned chip possibility...I would not do the resistors and get it in the tune. On the timing setting, do a little experimenting with 14° and 16° initial, and let us know how it does. GL
