How would i go about doing that exactly??

Exactly. Turn the engine to top dead center. You will know it's there when the 0* mark on the balancer is lined up with the timing pointer. Then make sure the rotor on the dizzy is pointing at the #1 terminal on the cap.

not to sound like the biggest idiot ever but i think im a lil confused.

make sure your number 1 wire is at the furthest post back on the dizzy, the one closest to the fire wall, and the number one cylinder is the pasanger side closest to the radiator. Then counterclockwise 13726548. That might help. Are you smelling gas? Did you hook your ground back up on the back of the head(orange wire)?

ok pull dis back out...mark 0 on your balancer bump it till the pointer is on it..

then re install dis with pointer facing #1...it will move around,but that's what a timing light is for..

as for the orange wire..... i dont remember an orange wire. But i will try this with the distributor and then time it and see if it works. If anybody has any other ideas i will try them too. thanks for the help.

yeah your orange wire should have a tanlike sheath over it with a big eye on it.

^^^^ its behind the intake manifold, it comes out of the big white connector for the fuel injection harness.
