Rear Tires on a Foxbody...how wide can i go?
Looking at getting a new set of rear 17" Cobras for my mustang. Was curious as to how wide of a rear tire i can put on it if i go with the 10.5" rim. Ive heard of people running the 315's possibly but you have to remove the quad shocks. Any input would be great thanks guys

it would take some work to fit 315's. more than just the quadshocks. im not sure what the biggest would be but i know the 315's would require modification to the fenders.

you can "easily" fit 275's when you remove the quad shocks.
anything past that and you will have to roll the wheel well lips
or custom rims or other mods.
a good wheel/tire shop should be able to take some measurements
and be able to talk with you.
fitting 315's under there is going to a pretty custom job.
Personally I'm hoping to get about 295's under there with
just a little bit of body work.

i have 245/45/17 on all 4 of my 17inch cobras,The front rub only when you make a wide turn,If i had to do it over again i would go with 235's in front and 245's in back...

alright i understand now. the 275 bulge a little but they seal on a 9" rim though right? my buddies got 315bfg drag radials on his z-28, he's got 17x10." chrome cragars, they protrude from the wheelwell a bit but look bad-***. 315 will make for some spendy tire bills though.
