Default Paint help

Well i have decided to get my car resprayed black, If i do all the sanding and priming work by myself ,How much will it run me to get it resprayed black.

1200ish should give you 2 coats base, 2 coats clear for a decent job. 300 if you go to maaco

maaco does not have what it takes to make black shine. you have to have your bodywork perfect with black because it will show everything. it is a hard color to get right so check around to find the right guy for the job. makr sure you see some work hes done on black because some good painters still cant get black right. if you buff it too hard it will show swirls bad so you have to get the paint right so it will require less buffing. you need at least 5 coats of clear to make it shine good. just look around till oyu find a good painter. doing the body work yourself, youre looking at about 800-1200 for 2 base coat and at least 5 coats of clear. the more clear the better for black.

my shop doesnt touch a car for less than 2500 to wet sand mask and spray thats the average, Most independent shops dont like to do all overs!

thats y the new interface system from 3m is great it features a 3000grit da pad to sand the clear with then u can go straight to polishing with a foam pad!!!

lol...me too man. ive got to get my sprayed in a few weeks too. im thinking about letting it roll off a bank and letting insurance pay for it. as for cheap and good, its hard to find both when it comes to paint.

There is no such thing when it comes to paint and body work. How bad is it now? If it is not that bad, I suggest you just leave it alone. Black should not be anyones first attempt at body work. A paint job is 99% prep and body and with black you will see every little wave, ding, sanding mark etc. Unless you really know what you are doing or have a person who does helping you, your chances of having it look good are very very low.
