Default maf and tb

is there an advantage running a smaller maf with a larger throttle body. say a 73 mm maf with a 75 mm tb? or flip those around even, a larger maf with a smaller tb?

youre better off with the maf bigger than tb. to tunnel the air better. i wouldnt think you would want a bigger tb than maf.

hm. thats a good point. i was kind of thinking id you used a smaller maf it would start to suck the air through, kind of create a vacuum. but one of the auto instructors at the college i go to said either of those combinations could compact the air and make it harder to mix with the fuel. i was just wondering if anyone had tried either combination

Well think of it this way, The air goes through the MAF first, then the TB, So if the MAF is more restrictive than the TB, what's the point in having a bigger TB if you understand what I mean... Say you have a 300cfm MAF and a 400CFM TB, well.. you're only using 300CFM at best with your TB with that combo so why have a 400CFM? And besides, your MAF is more restrictive than a TB as it is, ie a 70mm TB will flow better than a 70mm MAF, that's why people usually put a slightly larger MAF on their car than TB.
