Default Mustang Blues

Hey whats up,I got this problem with my 85 gt,it gots a 302,bored .30 over,60's cobra intake with a mild cam in it and long tube headers,my problem is when I take it to the track,I run a 15.1 or 15.2 at times.when I take off I have a great launch and all through 1 and 2nd I'm pulling away from anybody I race dont matter if their car runs 12s,then when I hit third (and 4th) thats when things start going down hill the peolpe I race pass me like a bat out of hell.I have the stock gearing which is like 2.90 or something,do you think I should go with 3.73s?

You're running 2.73's. You should step up to at least 3.55's. If you're not going forced induction, I'd suggest 4.10's.

That gear will make it hard to ever do good in the 1/4.

^^^ +1

IMO I would also go with 4.10's but its a personal preference. Atleast 3.73's.

I know two people who run 4.56's and they love them. Not good on the highway and gas isnt great but they are only weekend drivers so its not really an issue.

If your car is Auto, you can go 4:10 with a stall, but if your stick and a DD I wouldn't go hight then 3:73 IMO.

Would the 4.10 make me spin them pretty bad off the line or no?
also how about the gas milage, would 5th gear still be enough to go a 100 mhp on the highway?

One more thing,do you think I'll be able to get down into the low 14's
also its a daily driver, its a rice burner killer at school.
and the car is a 5spd

thanks for the advice
