please help charging system problems.
ok i have a 93 gt and i replaced the battery and the alternator and my car still isnt holding a charge... i was woundering if anyone knows of any kinds of solutions to this problem. like could a bad ground or something be causing this? and if anyone know where i can find a wiring diagram online to see if the wires are run correctly from the starter relay and so forth. thanks for your help.

you could have a shorted wire somewhere. try replacing the battery terminals. that somtimes helps it
do you have subs? bec i have a 180 alternator and the biggest battery that fits and my subs drain that sucker dry

RE: please help charging system problems.
It's not going to be the battery terminals, if the car starts then it's not the terminals. It draws about 150 - 200 amps when starting, and the alternator only puts out 75 amps, and a higher voltage (almost double) so if it starts, terminals aren't the problem.
Take off your negative battery cable, close any doors and keep your ignition off, anything that draws power needs to be off, including your hood light if you have one, disconnect it or remove the bulb. Use a test light and clamp it to the negative cable and touch the probe to the negative terminal on the battery, so basically, your test light is now between your negative cable and your battery, and if the light comes on bright (may be dim due to radio clock and such that draws power even when the car's off to keep the time blah blah blah) you have a drain. Then you go to your fuse box and test every fuse with the test light, door closed, no power or anything on once again, and if a fuse turns on your test light, your culprit is in that circuit.

When you look at a fuse (at the top), you know how it shows the amperage rating in the middle, and on either side it has rectangular metal prong, just touch them with the test light, try it with the key on so you know you're doing it right first if you've never done it before (that way the better part of them will light up)
