does any1 else have the cost that they paid to get their gears swapped out? is 450 a pretty normal price or does it range higher or ower? C'mon guys i know alot of you guys have paid to get em swapped lets hear some prices were paid. THX for any answers guys, just dont wanna get ripped off.
Well, I got two price quotes--one from Aamco, and one from a local speedshop. They quoted $600 and $650 respectively, for everything including the proper speedo gear. I live in OC though; I bet it's cheaper elsewhere.

was that for them to pay for the gears to or was it 600-650 if you brought in your own ring and pinion?

when i put mine in, i went to a guy i know to do it. we took it to aq local shop whom the owner was friends with us too. my rear had been whining bad. well, they hooked me up right dude. i had the 3:73 gear to put in it. but this guy gave me a new spider gear cluster and shim kit, bearing, everything. it was all for a high performance car too. i was lucky, they charged me 50$ each so i got prolly 1000$ worth of rearend for 100bucks and i only had 50$ in the richmond gears too. my rear is stout as heck not but in going to put 33 spline axles in it and itll be bulletproof. you know anyone that does it? maybe youll luck up like i did.

it pays off to get to know mechanics. the local muffler shop lets me work on my car there all the time. the owner and my dad are long time friends. i use the lifts and all the tool, tire changers, welders, etc. its great to have everything you need all in one spot. start hangin with them dude. ive learned almost everything i know from knowing those kinda guys. and youll be pleased with the 3:90 gears. get a 23 tooth speedo gear and youll still have to have it calibrated thouh. im thinking about changing my 373's for 3:90 gears. 4:10 great too for an auto but i think its too low for a modified 5.0 with a 5 speed. you love em!

start having them work on little things on your car and watch and learn. some cool dudes will take it as a compliment on their work if youre acting eager to learn and theyll show you some things. then yur in there dude.
