3.90 Gears...Couple questions
I just bought some 3.90 gears and am wondering what everyone has paid to get their gears swapped out. All i have are the ring and pinion so i will need to pay for all the shims and such. Also what kind of mileage have you guys given up when switching to 3.73s or 4.10s from stockers( i.e. 5mpg, 3mpg, etc).

low gears are a neccessity for a mustang. the 3:90 will be killer id say. youll need a shim kit. youll be in another 450 prolly for shims installation etc. but itll be worth it man...trust me. youll be ok on gas mileage too. youll lose a little but the extra kick will make you forget about it.

I would go with 4.10's the difference is minimal but there is alot more acceleration...I had 4.10's in a 5-speed, and man 4.10's were so good it pulled hard in 4th and 5th I almost never need to downshift, and the acceleration is so good

right on, I am REALLY looking forward to getting these bad boys slapped in! cant wait to see what the diff in feel is. I have heard they throw you in your seat alot more so i guess we will see. Was kinda worried that 4.10 would give me real bad gas mileage but 3.73s wouldnt be sufficient for a AOD. Hopefully these will be perfect.

I paid with my own sweat and blood, but around here it'd be aroun $250-300 I guess. 450 is a bit high. A good tech should beable to do it in 3-4 hours...
