I have 3.73's a love them. They are still good on the highway at 70 i'm at 2000 rpm. You can still get 19 miles to the gallon on the highway with 3.73's.

And at 70 you would be turning about 2300 rpm with 4.10's. Not that big of a differance in the long run. Everyone here needs to realize that you will always be making compromises when you start modding a car.

what mods do you have now? and what mods do you plan on in the near future? those questions are very important in choosing the proper gears.

http://www.mustangworks.com/analyzer.html
goto the bottom of this page it has a top speed calculator. its for a 5-speed but 4th gear = drive and and 5th and od are almost identical.

well i have u/l intake manifold, 70mm tb/egr, 76mm maf, cai, shorty headers, hi flow cats, 2.5in exhaust
i plan on getting new heads and a cam around september/october

well i only plan on going on the freeway every other weekend (120 miles)

so would the 3.73's be better? 4.10's..or something in between maybe..3.90's?

and so id need the syncros too? and what else?

and a shop wants to charge i think $500 for the install..too much?

how many miles are on your car? it'd be a good idea to rebuild the trac-lok while the shop has your rear end torn apart. 500 is about what i paid for ring and pinion, ring and pinion installation kit (bearings and stuff), and trac-lok. thats just labor though.

If you have an auto, I'd recommend 4.10's. One of my friends put them on his 5-speed 95 Cobra and his top end was around 115-120. If you're really worried about mileage, go w/ 3.73's instead. It'll keep your rpm's down a litte, but there won't be much difference in gas.

ya im kinda over the gas..i mean..i dont have it for the mileage
umm..ok i was thinking of 4.10's and since the rpms are only
like 300 diff between 4.10 and 3.73..ill go 4.10

what else do i need for them to be installed by a shop?

and how bout that track-lock?

Trac-lok rebuild kits are 50-60 bux or so. Have a shop do that when they put the gears in and it should save you some cash on labor.

so like the ford racing rebuild kit would work?

to be installed by a shop?
