Howdy + ?
Hi there! I'm new to this forum although not to Mustangs as i have a 86 GT convertible which i bought new. I'm getting vibes from my wife that its time to cycle my hobbies so i'm back to my Mustang.
My question is where can i mount my MSD 6AL box? the passenger side strut tower seems to be out since i converted over to mass-air and that is where my Sensor is. I'd prefer to not mount in the passenger compartement since i have enough problems with RFI and my sound system. I was wondering if i could mount it to the drivers side rail under my battery where i had my Jacobs ignition box, the only problem i see there is splash which was not an issue with the jacobs box but might be with my MSD which does not seem to be as tightly sealed plus i'm not sure the electronics are potted as my broken jacobs box were.
As way of introduction here are my vehicle specs:
Ford MS aluminum radiator with silicone hoses + electric helper fan
K&N filter with Ford Mass-Air Conversion kit
65 MM TB with a later year intake
greigs racing suspension with Panhard rod
shaved steering rack with offset bushings
autosport 4 pt roll bar
SSB rear disc conversion
Braces braces braces
Sony CD Head unit with Sony adapter for my XM or MP3 players
Boston Acoustics front speakers mounted in custom built pods
2 SoloBaric 10 subs mounted in a custom built tub where my spare used to be
TIA

RE: Howdy + ?
Welcome aboard. Do you have gears? I'd go that route first if you are looking for a performance increase. I've seen a lot of people mount their boxes near the battery. If you have any friends that can do fab work, I've seen people make plate to mount on between the battery and the motor. Either that or wherever you have room on the driver's side of the engine bay.

Wow! quick responses.
88bluegt- thanks! Yes i do plan to do some motor mods just not anytime soon, the 86 pistons don't have flycut pistons that would allow my to go to bigger valves. At some point i will stroke it..near term i've been thinking about a little boost something like 6 psi. And it is a 5 spd.
Gspgunk yes i do have gears, i don't recall what the gearing is but it is a compromise gearing.
